“I GREW UP WITH THESE DYNAMIC WOMEN WHO WERE OUT IN THE WORLD, MAKING A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THEIR COMMUNITIES. I WAS CONSTANTLY ENCOURAGED BY ALL OF THEM THAT I COULD DO ANYTHING, THAT I COULD BE ANYTHING.”

Giving up a regular paycheck and a more traditional path has not been without its struggles. “It's hard to take a leap, no matter who you are. I found myself checking the boxes for a long time. But I also realized that at some point, I had to get off the treadmill. I knew deep inside, that what I was doing wasn't my true passion or life's purpose.” Her mother’s resilience served as a model for moving past her fears. “She was a seventeen-year-old single mom who put herself through college with me in tow, and accomplished the unthinkable. The odds were against her, but she put one foot in front of the other, and kept going.”
